Bins [Episodes 2,8,11,18,21,22]
Bins is an expansive show-and-tell of Garden Reflexxx work made in the first month of lockdown where they screened 30 films over 30 nights, old discarded rushes slashed open. In a filmmaking culture of pretty privilege, where blurry images, unmixed sound, dead pixels and any un-artful sleight can send a shot to the cutting room floor, each film in Bins exposes the deleted, unused, rejected, or discarded footage. Hence the title of the show which refers to trash cans built into software, reappropriated as a ‘platform of untouched gems’. Each film is a practice of relinquishing shame, while simultaneously exposing images for their truthness – unprotected – to disrespect.
